Elida was born very prematurely, weighing only 1,300 grams. Because of this she had to be on a ventilator for a very long time, which resulted in stenosis (severe narrowing) of the larynx. Elida is now 3.5 years old. From birth she had a tracheostomy tube (tracheostoma), and only in May of this year it was removed, and the girl began to breathe on her own. But the tube left a hole (fistula). It should have healed on its own, but Elida developed a fistula at this place and it did not allow the cartilage and skin to heal. That is why the girl's parents collected money for the surgery, brought their daughter to Moscow to the Voyno-Yasenetsky Centre of Pediatric Specialized Medical Care to close the hole operatively. But during the operation unforeseen circumstances arose, the child's condition rapidly deteriorated. The child had breathing problems, and Elida was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) unintentionally. The doctors are now taking emergency measures because Elida is suffering from laryngeal swelling. Elida will have to spend at least 10 days in intensive care. And because she and her mother are Kyrgyzstan citizens, they have to pay a lot of money - more than 20 thousand roubles per day for an intensive care ward services. Elida's parents were not prepared for such a situation at all, and they have not got that kind of money, so they and Elida need our urgent help now!
