Valeria has successfully completed the rehabilitation course!

Valeria was born in very difficult conditions. My mother was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia, and at the 32nd week of pregnancy she had to urgently undergo a caesarean section. The baby girl was very weak - only 2/7 on the Apgar scale. Doctors diagnosed grade 1 intrauterine growth retardation and intrauterine infection. The baby's body was weakened, and almost immediately after birth she had a haemorrhage in the cerebral ventricles, from which all further serious problems began. Valeria developed hydrocephalus, complicated by inflammatory processes. And for the first 9 months, doctors and parents fought for her life. Finally, Valeria was discharged when she was almost 9 months old with a diagnosis of “Organic CNS lesion of hypoxic-ischemic genesis of grade 2, IVH of grade 3. Posthemorrhagic bypass hydrocephalus (internal type). Delay in psychomotor and speech development. Partial atrophy of the optic nerve ”. In simple terms, it was a serious brain injury that required lengthy and costly restorative treatment. Since then, her parents have been continuously fighting for her normal existence. When the baby was 2.5 years old, she first had long-term convulsions, due to which she was urgently admitted to intensive care. Since then, doctors have made another diagnosis - symptomatic focal epilepsy, and the girl is now undergoing anticonvulsant therapy. She has a disability status until the age of 18, which means that the path to full rehabilitation is still very long. But Valeria's parents do not give up. Valeria has already completed many courses of rehabilitation treatment in various clinics and rehab centres. Unfortunately, free rehabilitation, which was resorted to more than once, turned out to be ineffective. And in paid centres, prices are sometimes prohibitively high for a family in which has only dad working for all. All social benefits are spent on almost continuous rehabilitation, which is needed in a variety of ways. Much has already been achieved, and the parents are very happy with the baby's success, but you can't stop, the girl really needs to develop further! Currently, the girl needs a comprehensive examination and eye treatment at the Akademic Health Centre. It is necessary to assess the dynamics of visual functions, to determine the tactics and scope of further surgical treatment of strabismus and nystagmus, and it is also planned to conduct a course of pleoptic and neurotrophic treatment of the eyes.
