Vika is almost 7 years old. Her story has a happy beginning, and hopefully a beautiful continuation. We all can help her!
Vika was born healthy and developing as all children. She learned to turn over, sit, crawl, eat and dress independently. Showed activity and curiosity. Almost a year old she made her first steps.
One evening mom and daughter played on the bed. Vika had fun, jumping, scattering toys. Mom had hardly turned away to collect the scattered toys when she heard a thump. She turned around ... Vika was lying motionless on the floor.
When her mother took her daughter in her arms, the girl's body sagged. In a state of shock, the woman could not dial a phone number. An ambulance was called by a neighbor.
Vika was taken to the central regional hospital in Kirov, X-rays of her head and a CT scan were taken. The surgeon diagnosed a traumatic brain injury. Blood had accumulated in the head, which was pressing on the brain. This hematoma had to be urgently removed. The morning after the surgery, the brain swelled up, and the doctors had to do a craniotomy again.
The consequences of the injury were right spastic hemiparesis, divergent strabismus, and partial atrophy of the optic nerve.
Today after multiple therapy sessions Vika is an active and curious child.
Movement in the right arm and right ankle joint is complicated because of spasticity, the gait is impaired, the girl feels wrenching of the leg.
Doctors strongly recommend to perform exercises on the special simulator, which corresponds with the diagnosis of the girl, and it can make rehabilitation much easier.
Let's help Vika become healthy again!
