Artyom is 17 years old, he has cerebral palsy and has been battling his entire life with this serious condition. Artyom was born prematurely, at 34 weeks in Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk Oblast. He became hypoxic two hours after birth, had been on the ventilator for 5 hours, and suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. Because of this fact he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, concomitant strabismus, myopia, nystagmus, partial atrophy of the optic nerves.
Artyom underwent treatment courses in Moscow, and they always gave results both physically and intellectually.
Doctors in Moscow, at Voyno-Yasenetsky Scientific Practical Centre advised Artyom's family to make a surgery to remove strabismus and nystagmus which prevent the boy to focus his sight on objects. But the operation had to be done in four stages over a year. The first operation was done in September last year and the effect was immediate - the angle of strabismus decreased. The second operation had to be done for a fee, and the cost of it was too high for Artem's family. So the boy's mother turned to us the Providenie Foundation for help.
Thanks to Tooba community, Artyom underwent the second surgery in February 2022.
The boy's mother sincerely thanks all the kind people who helped Artyom!
