Ayras got sick quite recently, in August of last year. The child had a fever, and tests showed serious abnormalities in his blood system. The boy was sent to be examined in Perm, where he was diagnosed with acute myeloblastic leukemia.
Since then he has been undergoing treatment at the Perm Children's Oncology Center. Just a few days ago the boy finished the last chemotherapy unit, and now he is recovering from the hard treatment.
Ayras is fond of chess, he used to attend a chess club at school and went to competitions where he won prizes. He also has a favorite pastime - playing soccer with friends, and now, being in the hospital, he devotes more time to lego-construction. Volunteers come to the oncology center and work with the children and give them tasks. And when his father is in the ward with Ayras, they play chess with great pleasure.
In the near future Ayras may receive a bone marrow transplant. The doctors recommend to begin looking for a donor so they do not miss the chance for a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible.
The family has applied to the foundation for help in paying for HLA typing tests of four relatives to find the most suitable bone marrow donor for Ayras: mom, dad and two sisters. These tests are not done in Perm. We send the material to the neighboring city of Ekaterinburg, which has specialists and a laboratory.
Now Ayras is in remission, which is another important step towards recovery. Please help us pay for the tests to find a bone marrow donor for the boy, so that the family can feel secure about the future and be ready for the transplant surgery, without losing precious time which is almost non-existent in cancer treatment.
