The Lighthouse charity foundation backs various programs: the Children’s hospice in Moscow, the Moscow region Children’s hospice, and the Young adult hospice. Currently, we help provide care for nearly 800 patients with life-limiting illnesses under 30 years of age.
As a Russian nonprofit organization, we are facing challenges. There are increased costs for medical supplies, device shortages, and delivery delays. We stock up on supplies to alleviate the problem. Now we are in urgent need of single-use syringes.
If you get vaccinated, you are well aware of what syringes are used for. However, there are lesser-known use cases. The syringe is needed if a child is unable to eat by mouth or has difficulty swallowing due to their disease. Medical food is injected into a nasogastric or gastrostomy tube then. The syringe is also used to administer drugs through a portable dispenser at a precise rate, to deliver nutrients or water via a syringe pump. These are routine procedures for many children and young adults who we help.
The Lighthouse charity foundation needs to purchase about 40,000 syringes of different volumes. These reserves would be sufficient for 6 months. Thus, we will be able to provide for the families under our care.
