Babies like Katya Shirobokova are called rush babies. Premature, extremely prematurely born, often with diagnoses. Katya's mother was told by doctors that her newborn daughter had problems with her eyes. Since then she has been dreaming that Katya, as her mother, father, and two brothers call her, would be able to see the world she came into. And thanks to you, Katya finally can!
She has had enough to deal with. During the first months of her life she had a lot of surgeries - the doctors corrected some things, but the laser correction of vision was not successful - her crystalline lens was burned and Katya could not see at all. The lens was replaced, and her vision improved, but she suffered from bad strabismus which made it very difficult to see the outside world without any distortions. Thanks to your support Katya has already had three surgeries in Moscow; the last one was successfully held at the end of March. Now her strabismus is only 5 degrees, not 80 as it was before. But the most important thing is that she can see, even if she has glasses!
Katija is still undergoing rehabilitation, in July she will have more procedures. We believe, that together with you we will fulfill Katya's dream - kitten will see the world the way she sees it.

An operation will restore Katya's visual acuity
When Katya Shirobokova was born, doctors said she could see nothing - only light and penumbra. After two surgeries, the girl's right eye learned to distinguish all objects within a meter radius, and her left eye captures as much as three meters! Convergent strabismus was corrected from a frightening 80 percent to 20 percent. And if Katya wears glasses, even these twenty percent become almost imperceptible. Now all that is left is to turn this "almost" into "not at all.
A third, decisive surgery is needed.
Children like Katya are called "rushed babies": premature, born extremely early with a long list of diagnoses. Among them is retinopathy in newborns. The visual organ, a delicate and complex crystal organ, the most important one for our contact with life, had not fully formed by the 25 weeks of Katya's mother's pregnancy. And it has to "grow" it after birth.
Once Katya's world stretched into a flat picture and ... double. One eye saw two brothers, and the other eye saw two brothers, too. Doctors diagnosed the girl with increasing strabismus and amblyopia: the so-called "lazy eye" - a condition in which vision atrophies.
After the first operation, Katusha no longer stumbled over furniture or corners. After the second surgery, she loved puzzles and began to distinguish colors, and her pupils no longer converged at the bridge of her nose. Parents even sent their daughter to kindergarten and are happy that Katya is in no way inferior to her peers: she almost learned to pronounce hissing sounds, fights with the speech pathologist for the "p" and "l" sounds, loves puzzles and books. Except that she is the smallest in the group in terms of height. And she is the last of the children to see her mother when she comes to pick her up in the evening. After all, beyond three meters, Katina's world ceases to be a blurry silhouette.
To fix this, she needs another surgery. Then a meter on the right will turn into two, and Katya will be able to see her mother on the left when she just walks into the kindergarten yard. She will fearlessly run towards her without tripping once!
