Diana's health problems began at birth: she had yellow eyes and yellowing of the skin. After an examination, the child was sent to Moscow to the B.V. Petrovsky Russian National Cancer Center. There she was diagnosed with biliary atresia. Biopsy of the liver revealed cirrhosis. Liver transplantation was the only way out of the situation. A successful surgery was performed in November 2012. The donor was her father. After the transplant, Diane's life greatly improved, and she grew and developed like a normal child of her age.
However, since May 2019, problems began again. Twice the baby had an intestinal bleed. And after a while, rejection of the transplanted liver began. There was no time to delay. To save the child's life, it was decided to perform a second transplantation. This time the mother was chosen as a donor. The post-operative period was very hard. Now her condition is much better. Jaundice is gone, analysis is gradually coming back to normal. But she shall regularly come to Moscow for control examinations, for drainage replacement and washing, correction of medicament therapy and estimation of the graft. The next check-up is scheduled for May 2022. Unfortunately, travelling to Moscow for tests is an unbearable burden for the Marchukov family. Diana's father works, and the family has one more child, and a lot of money is spent on her rehabilitation.
