Nurainat Akhmedova is 12 years old, and her mother affectionately calls her Nurishka. She also calls her an angel for her amazing ability to endure difficulties patiently.
As soon as the girl was born, it became clear that there was something wrong with the child. Examinations brought a disappointing diagnosis: a dystrophic form of epidermolysis bullosa. This is an incurable genetic skin disease, which in Nurainat's case is particularly severe.
She has a younger brother and sister who couldn't care less about Nourainat, but even the toddlers know not to play around with her older sister because a slip or hug too roughly can cause blisters to form on her skin which, when they burst, would bleed over old, barely healed wounds.
Nurainat's mother keeps thanking people whose donations reduce the amount of pain in her daughter's life and repeating, "after the weight comes the relief. This gives the girl the strength to live, to do the things she loves - drawing, playing chess, reading fairy tales and waiting for a white streak to change into a black one.
It's in our power to change the proportion of white and black in Nurainat's life: Proper dressings make the condition of patients with epidermolysis bullosa much easier.
