Domestic dogs walk 2-3 times a day. Dogs from shelters - once a week. If they are cared for. And any volunteer wants to make this day special for his homeless friend, to fill him with joy and freedom from the cramped enclosure for many days to come.
One of the foundation's shelters is lucky: it borders with a field and a forest, where the dogs mostly go for walks. But as soon as it gets warm, walks there become dangerous: ticks wake up.
This area does not belong to the shelter, so we have to raise funds to treat the most visited part of it against these insects.
Ticks themselves are practically not dangerous, but it is the parasites they carry that do the damage. They destroy blood cells, completely disrupt metabolic processes in the body and cause severe intoxication. One of the most dangerous diseases you can get in this way is pyroplasmosis. If not treated in time, it is fatal.
Unfortunately, in a shelter with so many animals, timeliness is out of the question.
This collection will help the 1,700 dogs living at the shelter get a safe and truly free space for their only walk of the week.
