Little Mustafo had a successful surgery on one eye!

Mustafo Mashrabjanov was born 11 weeks ahead of schedule. The baby weighed only 1 kg 350 g at birth. Mustafo was on oxygen for 40 days, and when he was discharged from the hospital, doctors diagnosed him with retinopathy of prematurity degree 3. This is a disease of the retina, which leads to blindness if there is no timely treatment. Mustafo's parents immediately began treating their son. Mustafo has 3 older sisters and 1 brother. Dad works as a teacher and a cab driver and together with his eldest son does his best to support the family and pay for Mustafo's necessary treatment. Mom Mohidil worked for 20 years as a cook in a rehabilitation center for children with cerebral palsy and now takes care of Mustafo. During the last six months Mustafo underwent two eye injections with Lucentis and one surgery on his left eye in Saint-Petersburg. The doctors see positive dynamics of the treatment, but they say he will need more surgery to preserve his eyesight. On the 4th of July the boy is scheduled for an operation on his right eye, but the family does not have money to pay for it (all the money was spent on the previous stages of treatment and the trip from Tashkent to St. Petersburg).
