Mother writes:
“When Zhenya was 1.5 months old, she had her first epileptic attack. Daughter was immediately hospitalized. Two weeks later, the child was transported to the Udmurt Republican Children's Hospital for an additional health examination. Right now Zhenya is still in the hospital, taking three antiepileptic drugs. But unfortunately, the selected medicines do not stop the attacks completely, they only give a short-term relief. Recently my daughter had a generalized attack. Each attack is a big strain on the child's brain. This is the reason of baby’s setback in development. Zhenya stops holding her head, saying her first sounds, her hand coordination is disturbed, intracranial pressure rises. Our doctor sent the results of the examinations to colleagues in Moscow. Experts recommend to make a full genome sequenation as soon as possible. This analysis will identify the genetic changes that cause epilepsy and help to choose the right medication to stop the attacks. Since birth of my daughter, we have been spending almost all the time in hospitals. As soon as the baby acquires a skill, an epileptic attack happens, we have a setback in development, and everything starts all over again. And we really want Zhenya to develop on a par with her peers, without delay. Unfortunately, our family does not have the money to pay for an expensive analysis. And we have to ask for help”.
