Many children born prematurely are at risk of retinal detachment due to retinopathy of prematurity
Recently a mother of premature twins from Makhachkala came to our Foundation for consultation. At the local hospital they were timely diagnosed with the disease, but by the time the little patients arrived in Moscow for treatment under OMC, both children had already detached their retinas. Now the vision in one eye of each of them is almost lost, and there is a question of surgery.
This mother chose not to give her name. But their story is typical, and there are dozens of such cases every year in Dagestan. In addition to the risk of vision loss due to lost time, the road and accommodation in Moscow is often a heavy burden on the family's budget. Often they decide to postpone or cancel the trip altogether.
The current fundraising will enable one ophthalmologist to be trained in all methods of treating retinopathy of prematurity, so that children born in Dagestan can be treated locally - without losing time and costly flights.
We are also purchasing a minimum supply of medicine for the first emergency patients
Support the project today to live in a healthy and happy society tomorrow.
