Vasilisa is the third and longest-awaited child in the family. Her mother endured a difficult pregnancy and was constantly monitored by specialists, but despite all the difficulties the doctors repeated: "The baby is okay". When Vasilisa was born, her parents were sure that all fears and concerns were over - the girl was born big and looked absolutely healthy.
Unfortunately, four months later, things happened that changed Vasilisa's and her family's lives forever. Her mother noticed that one of her daughter's legs was a little crooked, and the girl tried not to lean on it when she crawled. The Bryansk hospital took an X-ray and gave a preliminary diagnosis - "congenital false joint". Later the girl was examined by a geneticist, and it turned out that the false joint was a consequence of a rare disease "type 1 neurofibromatosis".
Fortunately, Russian specialists are able to install telescopic pins, which give children with this pathology the opportunity to learn to walk and even run with self-confidence. A year and a half ago, with the support of donors from the"Fragile People" Foundation, Vasilisa was operated on in Nizhny Novgorod. She still has to wear a special brace and the difference in leg lengths is still visible, but there is every chance that sooner or later the situation will change for the better for good.
Now Vasilisa goes to the kindergarten, attends developmental class and loves to communicate with other children more than anything else in the world. Since the last surgery the girl is grown up, the pin in her leg is no longer in its correct size and it is time to put a new one. Support Vasilisa and her family, help her to continue to live an active life!
