Cancer diagnoses are very often incidental findings discovered during routine examinations. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, additional diagnostics, retesting of histological material in several different laboratories, and genetic tests are simply necessary. According to leading oncologists, about 30% of all diagnoses need clarification. Without an accurate diagnosis it is impossible to choose the best treatment plan and defeat the disease. Most cytogenetic tests are not covered by the MHI, and the Life Foundation gets dozens of requests each month to pay for additional diagnostics. In order for the children to get the help they need, the Life Foundation needs to have the funds to implement the "Learn the Disease" charitable program.
