“You have a baby, a butterfly. It sounds beautiful, but only at first glance, only for those who do not know what epidermolysis bullosa is - a rare skin disease.
A child's skin is as vulnerable as a butterfly's wing. Any careless touch can turn into a wound on the skin, bringing pain to the child. You can’t even take blood from a finger from “butterflies”, their skin is so delicate and it is so difficult to recover from any damage.
The Children-Butterflies Foundation has been helping patients with epidermolysis bullosa for 12 years. When a “butterfly” is born anywhere in the country, medical specialists or parents contact us, and the Fund's doctors go on a patronage visit to the child. Their task is to teach mothers how to make dressings, take care of the skin, support and tell them that they are not alone and how the Foundation can help.
The Foundation's team brings a "newborn's box" - it contains everything you need for the first time - special care and dressings - they are like a "second skin" for such children. Depending on the severity of the disease, the cost of funds can reach up to 400,000 rubles per month, which is unbearable for a family.
By the Children's Day, we are opening a collection of 1 million rubles, the funds will be used to purchase a patronage box, pay for the services of a patronage nurse, a psychologist and a coordinator who accompany families from the moment they apply to the Fund.
