Katerina Pyaike is a 17-year-old girl with CP (Cerebral Palsy). She was born in Abkhazia, in a family where only her mom did all household work and brought up children. Katya's father left the family before she was born, he didn’t want to watch her grow up and be with her.
The doctors could diagnose Katya only before she went to school. As Katya grew up, she faced a lot of troubles and difficulties. At first, the girl had to accept her disability and the fact that she was different from other children. Then Katya found out that her mom had cancer and 8 months later overcame her death. Such tragedy should have broken brothers and sisters, left without support of their mom, but they stayed with each other and this hard situation put them together.
"Katya is a wonderful child with a big heart, but a hard life," – says her elder step-sister Kristina, who became a guardian for a young, a bit shy girl after their mom's death.
Katya’s family asks to help in fund-raising so that Katya could get a course of vital rehabilitation. According to doctors, Katya's health can seriously become worse without rehabilitation and she can even stop walking. Rehabilitation for Katya at Rehabilitation and Health Center (Sochi) costs 122 500 rubles. This is a huge amount for Katya’s sister - Kristina, who supports not only Katya, but also brings up a younger brother and sister and a little son. But all together we can help Katya improve her health: correct posture and make gait steadier.
