Sofia was born prematurely and did not breathe on her own. The girl spent 3 weeks on artificial lung ventilation and she had a shunt installed because of a swelling fontanel. Doctors began preparing Sofia for surgery to reduce intracranial pressure. The unexpected happened: the girl got an infection in her cerebrospinal fluid. Above all, Sofia fell ill with pneumonia and the operation was postponed again. Finally, in March 2020, the girl was successfully operated on. After a year of intensive training with Sofia, the girl’s development stopped. An MRI showed that the shunt was not positioned correctly. Once again Sofia had surgery to install an additional valve to regulate the pressure. Sofia's mom and dad don't give up. Doctors give positive prognoses for the girl’s development and recovery and say that Sofia will be able to learn to walk. So that these predictions could come true, the baby needs to study at home and stand using a standing frame.
