Alyona is 15 years old. Like all teenagers, she attends school and leads an active lifestyle. Most of all, Alyona enjoys swimming in the pool. After coming under the care of the Children's Hospice "Lighthouse" in Moscow, she frequently visits the hospice's day care center and utilizes the swimming pool there. Alyona always swims with her mom or an instructor since she cannot do many things on her own and requires support. Alyona has Rett syndrome, a rare hereditary disease in which a child gradually loses all acquired skills. While Alyona does not speak, she communicates with her eyes and through communication cards. She does not walk and moves solely in a wheelchair. Due to severe scoliosis, it is challenging for her to find a comfortable position in the wheelchair. That's why Alyona needs a special, individualized seat for the stroller, crafted based on impressions of the child's body, considering all its deformations. Thanks to this device, Alyona will be able to sit in a more comfortable position in the stroller—a crucial aspect for her. A total of 172,150 rubles is required to create the seat. The Lighthouse Charity Foundation has initiated a collection for this amount.
