Yesenia and Stepa have completed rehabilitation courses

Seven–year-old Yesenia has an amazing memory. She can read a large poem only a few times and memorize it. The girl also likes drawing and painting, creating figures from plasticine and playing puzzles. When Yesenia was 18 months old, her parents noticed that she tilted her head to the left strangely, twisted her mouth when smiling and walked without coordination. CT scan found out a brain tumor. Yesenia underwent an operation, radiation and chemotherapy courses, thanks to which she has been under dynamic observation for four years. The brain tumor and, also, its treatment led to a number of unpleasant consequences. Yesenia could not keep her head, sit and move on her own. She also had speech disorders, motor problems and difficulty with swallowing food. Regular classes with specialists helped the child learn to crawl, walk with support and speak better. However, there will be much work ahead before the girl takes her first steps and returns to normal life. Now Yesenia and another ward of the Khabenskiy’s Fund need a rehabilitation course after treatment to continue restoring the lost life skills. The Fund helps from 79 to 166 wards in the area of rehabilitation every month.
