Polina is 6 years old; until she was 5 years old, she lived in an orphanage, and no attention was paid to her development. Now Polina can’t do many things that children her age should be able to do - she can’t distinguish the shapes of objects, doesn’t remember colors, can’t remember short poems, can’t put words into sentences correctly, and she finds many typical tasks difficult. Polina cannot concentrate on simple tasks. In a year, the girl will have to go to first grade, now she has already started studying with a specialist from the foundation in order to catch up on lost time for the new school year. Neglected development is a common problem among children in foster families. Such children spent part of their childhood without parents, when they did not have an attentive adult.
