Roma was born with a hole in his back - in the literal sense. It is a complex congenital malformation - spina bifida, when the spinal shackles are not completely closed, and the spinal cord protrudes out, forming a hernia.
The baby was operated 3 hours after birth and he was in intensive care for a week.
Now Romé is 10 years old. A long way is already behind him and his mother's shoulders: 6 operations, which unfortunately did not go without a trace for the central nervous system: delayed speech and motor development, problems with perception and learning of information, difficulties with concentration. For example, it is difficult for Romé to repeat his movement while charging. He has no control over his emotions and gets tired quickly.
It is very important for Roma to overcome these difficulties, to learn to be in harmony with his body. And this is possible thanks to regular sensory and speech therapist exercises.
The ergotherapist of the Foundation, who supervises the family, predicts that thanks to these regular exercises for a long time Roma will improve his balance and coordination of movements, the boy will be able to write better and become more attentive, will be able to repeat his movements from the first time without the help of an adult, will increase his vocabulary. All this will help Roma to study better at school and he has already moved to the second grade. Among other things, Roma needs to equip his workplace - to buy orthopedic desks and a chair. This will help to keep the right posture for a long time and learn better!
