The Life Route Foundation helps adults with mental disabilities lead normalised lives. The photos show a client of our foundation, Seryozha Trunov. Previously, he lived in a closed institution - the only state-funded type of support available to Seryozha and his peers. With the help of the Foundation, Seryozha left the institution and now lives in our supported living apartment.
Supported living is a form of independent living for people with disabilities. This type of residential support is recognised throughout the world as a humane alternative to living in closed institutions. In our apartments, adults with disabilities lead a lifestyle that is closest to the life of their peers without developmental disabilities, namely, they work (in sheltered inclusive workshops of the foundation) or develop skills in day care programmes, get the help needed to communicate with friends in their leisure time, go for walks, visit cultural events, invite guests, etc.
Now the Foundation finds itself in a financially vulnerable position and we are raising funds to pay the rent of one of the apartments. By making a donation, you give Seryozha and other people with mental disabilities the opportunity to live the way they want.
