The restoration of houses in Orenburg continues. Someone was able to return home completely. Someone still visits there – repairs, restores, dries, and then goes back to temporary housing, because their own is not suitable yet. A lot of residents of Orsk and nearby villages are forced to live with friends and relatives, even more – in rented apartments.
Thanks to you, we were able to provide assistance to the victims in the first days and weeks of the disaster. Food products were sent to Orenburg and Orsk – cereals, pasta, canned food: everything that can be cooked quickly, even at a temporary accommodation point, even in an improvised kitchen in an empty house. With great gratitude, the affected residents dismantled pillows, blankets and bed linen – they were needed both in rented rooms and in the PVR, and when the whole family found themselves in a renovated but empty house.
The real heroes in the circumstances were the teachers of the school in Orsk. The school was not flooded, it turned into one of the PVRs. But the teachers' houses were flooded. But classes at the school were on schedule until the end of May: not a single teacher left his students and his job. They were the last to start rebuilding houses. And we bought microwaves and kettles for them – the first and most necessary household appliances when you need to rebuild a house, and which you can take on a job that you temporarily have to live on.
Thank you, friends, for helping your neighbors, albeit distant ones, with such dedication. Families continue to receive compensation and support. But at the peak of the disaster, when no one understood what to do and what would happen next, your support was vital for them to survive. And you did it.
