Polina’s (10 y.o) mother died in her very early childhood and her grandmother was unable to take care of her granddaughter, who required special care.
Polina had a very serious illness - meningoencephalitis. It caused complication so that she could not take a single step and her whole body was constrained by tension and painful cramps. She could only move around in a wheelchair.
In December 2022, medical specialists from our Foundation saw Polina in an orphanage and took her to Moscow for treatment. She has already undergone two surgeries: one on the spinal cord and the second on her legs. She spent more than a month in a cast and had some rehabilitation behind. Recently she got her last rehabilitation, which we could pay thanks to your support, dear toobers! It won’t be long yet, Polina can walk independently but still doesn’t stay very firmly on her feet.
Doctors have recommended for Polina to order leg braces, special fixators customized to fit her own measurements. They would help Polina to learn to walk easier.
Thanks to your support we could gain leg braces for Polina and help her to stand confidently on her feet and walk independently.
