When the baby was born, the family was discharged home, but a week later the mother noticed that the child had started to turn yellow and became alarmed.
"The pediatrician said that we needed to go to a children's hospital. We were sent to the National Children's Medical Center in Tashkent, where they diagnosed gallbladder disease, and we were treated at the clinic for 12 days. Then they said that the liver was not working, a transplant was needed, and we decided to fly to Moscow," said Sumaya's father.
For the family, coming to Moscow is the only chance to save their daughter, because such operations are not performed on babies in Tashkent.
In the capital, the family was sent for tests to the Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky. The girl was diagnosed with "biliary cirrhosis of the liver" and the need for a transplant was confirmed. The baby's mother will be the donor.
Sumaya has a difficult path ahead, she will need an operation, recovery and treatment, and we will support her in this.
