Maria is well-known in all the schools in Gatchina as the family curator of the Foster Family Support Center "Find a Family." There are many foster children growing up here, and unfortunately, conflicts with classmates and even teachers occur quite frequently. Children from orphanages may have developmental and behavioral challenges; however, many conflicts arise due to the prejudiced attitudes of those around them.
As a foster mother, Maria understands the struggles that foster children face in adapting to a new environment and earning respect from their peers. She strives to help before conflicts escalate into serious problems, actively intervening in acute situations. Without professional support, such instances can lead to bullying.
Maria educates teachers about the specific needs of children who have experienced the orphanage system and, when necessary, involves the principal and psychologist. This is just a part of the responsibilities that the family curator handles every day.
We need funding for Maria's work in the coming months so that foster families can continue to receive the necessary support.
