Ruslan is 38 years old. In his 21s, when he was still a student and simultaneously worked at a factory, he first encountered oncology - doctors diagnosed him with Hodgkin's lymphoma, stage IV. Then followed courses of chemotherapy, drips, experimental drugs, radiation therapy. Finally remission came. After it there were 2 relapses and in 2012 Ruslan was transplanted with his own bone marrow. Ruslan returned to a full life.
But, 10 years later, in 2022, blood tests began to show a decrease in haemoglobin and platelet counts. At the National Research Centre for Haematology in Moscow, Ruslan heard the oncological diagnosis for the second time - now it was ‘Myelodysplastic syndrome with an excess of blasts’. The only chance to recover is a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor. But for this he needs to undergo a special examination - HLA-genotyping and testing for haemotransmissible infections.
Ruslan already knows that a bone marrow transplant is the way to recovery. But preparing for it is expensive. Ruslan and his retired parents don't have that kind of money.
