The Ufa Hospice charity foundation has been working in the Republic of Bashkortostan for three years now. Hundreds of families who have faced incurable diseases are not left alone with their diagnosis, lost and frightened, because the foundation's nurses and social workers make sure that they manage to help everyone who needs it.
The Ufa Hospice cares for over 1,000 adults and 200 children. Some of them receive care at the hospices, but most of them get help at their homes, the team comes to bring medications, relieve pain, and sometimes just talk. The visiting service helps families not only in Ufa, but also in 11 districts of the republic, so that people do not have to leave their homes and can live in their usual world, despite their illness.
However, the attention and care of doctors is not enough, because if a critical moment occurs, the visiting service may not have time to arrive. So that the patient and his family can help themselves, the hospice provides families with the special equipment, for example, a medical device for artificial respiration, which is also called an Ambu bag.
An Ambu bag is a mechanical device for artificial ventilation of the lungs. In critical situations, with the help of this device, those who are nearby can support the patient's breathing until the doctors arrive.
The hospice is currently running out of consumables. The team plans to purchase 50 Ambu bags, as well as medical wipes and kits for the introduction of therapeutic nutrition. This is help for 50 families who will be confident that they can do everything possible for their loved ones.
