Muhammad is 3 years old, he has an autism spectrum disorder and delayed speech development. After a year, mom realized that something was wrong with the baby, he did not respond to the name, did not look into the eyes and there was no pointing gesture. Muhammad had no interest in the people and objects around him.
Thanks to classes with an AVA specialist, Muhammad learned how to match identical pictures, mastered games for large and small motor skills, the boy established eye contact and an index gesture, can sort identical objects into 3 baskets. In order for the child to show what he wants, he was introduced to the 1st stage of alternative communication using PECS cards. The boy began to understand the spoken language better and cooperate with specialists.
A specialist in sensory integration revealed decreased proprioceptive sensitivity, decreased muscle tone, tactile and vestibular searches, which caused Muhammad to have difficulty maintaining balance and getting lost in space. Thanks to a specially selected set of exercises, the boy learned to pay attention to his body and control it, coordination of movements improved significantly, and the repertoire of imitation increased.
