When he was 5 months old, Kolya started to hit his ears and scream a lot. The audiologist diagnosed Kolya as having a hearing loss grade 4. The diagnosis was confirmed and Kolya was referred for cochlear implantation.
“I felt like the world had collapsed,” my mother recalls at the time, ”My parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, friends, all relatives supported us as best they could.”
After the implants that opened up the world of sounds for him, Kolya is still just getting to grips with it. After such a late start, it takes a tremendous amount of effort for Kolya to be able to speak for the first time. And parents are happy with each new pronounced sound, word, gradual understanding of speech.
In order for Kolya's full-fledged speech to emerge and consolidate, regular lessons with specialists are needed. But only his father works in the family - a printer at the factory - and his parents cannot pay for expensive courses.
Kolya is 4 years old, and he is growing up to be a kind, modest, polite child. Despite the diagnosis Kolya is very sporty: he likes to play soccer, basketball, tennis and dreams of becoming a soccer player.
We can help Kolya to talk and start communicating. After all, if you practice intensively, everything will definitely work out.
