Vera Ivanovna was born in the post–war autumn of 1945 in the Vladimir region with a severe genetic disease - epidermolysis bullosa. This disease affects the skin, making it fragile and prone to injury. Back then, no one knew how to treat it, or what kind of disease it was in general. Vera survived by a miracle. "Until I was 7 years old, I lived with my grandmother, they treated me with cottage cheese, sour cream and herbs. At 7, my mother and I moved to Rybinsk, I went to school and it started: every summer everyone has a vacation, and I'm in the hospital." Hospitalizations became longer and longer, at the age of 19 Vera Ivanovna spent six months in the hospital. "They treated me with everything: hormones, vitamins, and ointments. It got a little better, but I still had to be hospitalized regularly throughout my life." And Vera Ivanovna is 78, very few patients of “butterflies" live to such years. The disease has not gone away and still requires attention, only the usual diagnoses for the elderly have been added to it – hypertension, diabetes, heart and joint problems.
