Milena had a neuro-urological examination
Spina bifida
Fundación • Moscow
Early in the morning with her mother and father, little Milena arrived in Moscow. But this time not to go to the hospital for a few weeks, as she and her mother used to. This day, without going to the hospital, within a few hours Milena underwent complete screening of her urinary system.
At GMS clinic neurourologist Galina Tischenko not only evaluated the phase of urine accumulation and emptying, and whether it should be compensated with medication and additional methods of urine diversion, but also clearly explained to the parents the scheme of further treatment of the child.
During the examination, it turned out that Milena needed constant catheterization. The doctor immediately showed them how to place the catheter and taught mom and dad how to do it on their own, because in the future Milena needs to be catheterized regularly, several times a day. The catheter drains the urine that doesn't come out on its own. This keeps her kidneys healthy. When the girl grows up, she will be taught how to do it herself. Thanks to catheterization it will be possible to get away from the diaper and wear normal underwear.
Milena's mother wrote to us: "The doctor explained to us in detail what we should pay attention to in the tests and what to do if there are any changes. It is very convenient that we can be examined as an outpatient without going to hospital. Thank you very much to the Spina Bifida Foundation for the opportunity to undergo CUDI under the guidance of a top-notch specialist!"
We thank the Tooba platform and all the tubers who helped us raise funds to pay for an important examination for little Milena.

Milena needs a kidney exam!
Most of all Milena likes to show off in front of the mirror. The little girl is interested in everything around her, and especially in other children on the playgrounds. The inquisitive little girl wants to make friends with everyone. But that's just because of the features of his diagnosis to realize his desires do not always work.
She cannot speak yet, though she understands everything. The girl has an implant on her left ear because of her hearing loss. Milena also has spina bifida - it is a heavy spinal malformation. The girl cannot walk because of it.
But in addition to movement problems, children with spina bifida have another peculiarity that can cause serious harm to their health: they have no control over their bladder; they just don't feel it's time to go to the bathroom. In the meantime, urine goes back to the kidneys, and children end up developing urinary tract infections: from a mild form of cystitis to severe, with kidney damage - pyelonephritis.
In outpatient clinics, pediatricians often do not know about the peculiarities of monitoring children with spina bifida, so they focus on standard examination protocols: blood and urine tests. But this is not enough.
Such children as Milena need to be examined by a neuro-urologist every year. It's called CUDI. This is a comprehensive study that allows you to assess how strongly impaired the phase of accumulation and emptying of urine, whether it needs to be compensated by medication and connect additional methods of urine diversion. That is, CUDI is essentially a complete screening of the urinary system.
CUDI is not on the list of mandatory medical examinations. Therefore, the charity fund "Spina Bifida" is collecting funds to pay for CUDI for Milena.
Let's help Milena undergo an important examination!
