1.5-year-old Shukrona can't see. The baby girl was born with her twin brother prematurely weighing just over a kilogram. Unfortunately, the brother did not survive. Shukrona was diagnosed with fifth-degree retinopathy of prematurity.
The mother shares, “When I realized that my long awaited baby was different, it was like worlds shattered inside me, I didn't know what to do. But after looking at her little face, I realized that I had to fight till the end and win, no matter what it cost me.”
Shukrona underwent three surgeries - the girl began to see the light and smiled more often.
Unfortunately, without staged surgeries, the disease will progress. Shukrona needs the next stage of treatment. Otherwise, the situation may worsen, up to the removal of the eye.
Doctors give good chances to Shukrona - with a favorable outcome in the long run the girl will even be able to wear glasses.
Her parents have no means to pay for the operation - the family of 6 people is supported by her father, who works as a laborer.
