At our shelter, the fight for the health and lives of our tail patients is fought for every day. Self-fixing bandages - specialized materials that provide secure fixation and protect wounds without causing additional discomfort to the animals - are an important step along the way.
Self-fixing bandages are essential for many reasons. Unlike conventional bandages that require additional fastening, these bandages self-adhere to the skin or threads, staying in place even when actively moving. This is crucial for our patients: many of them are afraid, anxious and cannot tolerate long procedures. These bandages allow for quick and secure bandaging, which reduces stress for the animal.
These bandages offer a number of advantages:
Softness and comfort - they do not press in or rub the skin, which is especially important for injured and weakened animals.
Durability - bandages stay in place even when the animal is actively moving, do not slip and do not require constant fastening.
Safety - they do not stick to hair and skin, do not cause irritation and seem to aid the bandage removal process without causing pain.
Our wards often arrive with serious injuries: fractures, deep wounds, soft tissue injuries. Protecting such wounds and creating comfortable conditions for their healing is our first priority. Self-fixing bandages not only keep wounds clean and protected, but also make it possible for them to heal quickly and properly.
