Vova is 9 years old. He fell ill in 2021. Vova began to have severe allergies, and from that moment on for several months doctors could not make an accurate diagnosis. They treated everything: immune system, intestines, inflammation. But nothing helped. In June, my mother insisted on another test, which showed blast cells in the blood, which confirmed the rapid development of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Doctors prescribed urgent intensive treatment, according to existing protocols. And it worked! On August 30, 2023, Vova was discharged from the hospital healthy and hung an apple with his name on the tree, which symbolizes the successful victory over oncohematological disease.
But in February 2024, there was a relapse and the disease returned. The bone marrow was 98% affected. Vova is in the hospital and one by one underwent courses of chemotherapy to go into molecular remission.
And then there was a transplant from his mom. The boy was prescribed a special drug that will affect the immune system and help the bone marrow take root after the transplant in the body.
