Khalid spent two months in the intensive care unit!

Our little Khalid is still in intensive care after two heart surgeries. On October 15, cardiac surgeons at the Bakulev Center performed a correction of a complex congenital heart defect. They corrected the atrial septal defect and immediately narrowed the pulmonary artery so as not to open the chest a second time. This extensive surgical intervention went well. To restore blood circulation, the boy was put into a drug-induced sleep. Khalid's condition is serious but stable. Last week, his condition began to improve. It took 24 days before the baby woke up. He is still weak. Slowly but surely, Khalid is recovering. His mother was allowed to hold her son in her arms. What a relief! Khalid will have to be in intensive care for some time. All medical services for him are paid, since he is a citizen of another country. The family is not able to pay the bill for intensive care services on their own.
