Valdis is 18 years old. His diagnosis is acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He has been playing basketball since he was 7 years old. He became the champion of the Russian championship, joined the national team and travels to tournaments.
Winter 2023. “After another game, I broke a finger on my hand. And right after - I fell and broke my collarbone. I had surgery in Moscow, I started to develop my hand to start playing again as soon as possible. I had a high fever, there was a strong weakness: I could not walk more than a hundred meters “- says Valdis
“I began to think: my son has really recently lost weight, began to get tired quickly. Everything was written off to the post-operative period, but my maternal heart told me to insist on additional tests. I felt that something was wrong, but then we could not imagine what diagnosis we would hear in 24 hours,” says Valdis' mother.
“They found blasts in the blood. Everything was incomprehensible, it was the first time I heard such a diagnosis - lymphoblastic leukemia,” admits Valdis. It is a malignant disease of the blood and bone marrow.
Lymphoblastic leukemia is commonly referred to as “blood cancer”.
Valdis underwent chemotherapy. But this has severely weakened the young man's immune system. After each course of maintenance therapy, infections appear, which are difficult to treat. In order to keep all the indicators in the body normal, he needs to undergo a course of therapy with immunoglobulins. These are such special proteins that replace a person's own antibodies, which are lacking in the body.
The required medication is in defect, so Valdis needs help buying the necessary medication.
Tubers, support Valdis, he needs a course of life-saving therapy!
