At 1 year and 10 months of age, the boy was fitted with cochlear implants in both ears - electronic processors that pick up sounds and transmit them directly to the appropriate parts of the brain - so that he could hear and learn to speak. But this was only the beginning of the child's hearing and speech development: without specialist training, Elvis still cannot fully understand the signals transmitted to him by the electronic devices and has great difficulty learning to speak. The boy has a large family: Elvis is the only brother of three sisters.
