Maksud is 14 years old. After suffering from meningoencephalitis as a child, the boy's hearing gradually deteriorated. He had been practically deaf in his right ear for many years, but thanks to his preserved hearing in his left ear, he was able to live a normal life: he went to school independently, played sports, and socialized with friends.
As a teenager, Maksud began rapidly losing hearing in his left ear. Doctors now diagnose him with grade IV bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and deafness on the right ear.
His hearing loss has significantly changed the boy's daily life—even going to the store alone has become difficult for him.
Doctors recommended Maksud for a cochlear implant. The surgery on his right ear has already been performed. Now, for further auditory and speech rehabilitation, the boy requires a Cochlear Kanso 2 sound processor.
Specialists recommend this model, taking into account Maksud's hearing characteristics and the hearing aid his family has already purchased for his other ear.
The family is unable to obtain the necessary processor through the state program in the near future, and delaying full rehabilitation for several years is especially important now that Maksud is a teenager and struggling with hearing loss.
