Safiya was born prematurely and with severe pathologies, but thanks to the doctors, she was able to overcome many difficulties. The little girl developed within normal limits, spoke a few words, but at 1.5 years old she contracted chickenpox and experienced a developmental regression. The girl withdrew into herself, stopped laughing and playing, and lost all the skills she had acquired. Specialists diagnosed her with residual encephalopathy, delayed psycho-speech development, general speech underdevelopment of level 1, sensorimotor alalia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with elements of autism.
Safiya is now 5 years old. She understands everyday speech, can indicate fruits, vegetables, animals, and vehicles using gestures. Only recently has the girl started to say a few words, but she still communicates with others mainly through gestures.
Safiya needs to undergo an intensive rehabilitation course with specialized professionals who can help her improve her self-care skills and expand her vocabulary.
