Azaliya is only 5 months old. The baby girl has a congenital heart defect—a ventricular septal defect. Because of this, her blood circulation is impaired, and her heart and lungs are under strain. Without urgent surgery, the girl is in danger.
"When my daughter smiles, it seems like everything is fine. I dream that she will be healthy," says her mother.
Azaliya gets tired quickly, gains weight poorly, and is often fussy. But she is growing up to be a cheerful and curious child: she reaches for toys, tries to crawl, and is happy to see her brother. He is two and a half years old and takes care of his little sister—he brings her rattles and talks to her.
Right now, Azaliya's heart is being supported by medication, but her condition could worsen at any moment. Doctors insist on surgery as soon as possible. The cost is beyond what her parents can afford. Her mother takes care of her, her father works as a courier, and they only have enough money for the bare essentials.
