Ruslan is 7 years old. Until he was about one and a half, he was developing well—even saying his first words—but then he experienced a developmental regression. He lost his speech, stopped understanding words addressed to him, lost his pointing gesture and eye contact, and no longer responded to his name.
At age two, Ruslan was diagnosed with delayed psychoverbal development (DPVD). He began medication and ongoing rehabilitation: ABA therapy, sessions with a special education teacher, neurocorrection, and massage. There was progress, but it was very slow. The pointing gesture returned, Ruslan started responding to his name, and gradually began to understand speech. At five, doctors gave a new diagnosis—autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Now Ruslan needs regular sessions. They help reinforce the skills he has already acquired and prevent further regression. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties, his family cannot afford to continue rehabilitation.
