Four-month-old Andryusha has positional plagiocephaly. Due to improper positioning in the womb, the back of the baby's skull is flattened, while the front and right side protrude noticeably.
The mother knew in advance that she would have to fight for her son's health. The pregnancy was difficult, and in the later stages, doctors saw that the baby's right kidney had not formed properly. But it turned out that this was not the only challenge.
"I saw my son briefly in the delivery room, and later, when they brought me the bundle in the ward, I unwrapped him and was stunned: a misshapen head, ears of different sizes, and six fingers on one hand..."
Doctors reassured the mother: "Don't worry! It's worse if there aren't enough fingers, but in your case, everything can be resolved. And the head will straighten out."
But the miracle did not happen; the head did not straighten on its own. By three months, the mother felt that the deformation was only getting worse, so she took her son to specialists in Moscow. The doctors confirmed severe plagiocephaly and found that the curvature had already affected the structures of the inner ear, so the child was at risk of hearing loss. The displaced cranial sutures were already causing excessive muscle tone in the neck and shoulder girdle.
While the bones are still soft and pliable, Andrey's head can be corrected in a gentle way—by wearing a special orthopedic helmet. This can solve most of the health problems and prevent further complications. If intervention is not made right now, correcting the skull deformities later will only be possible with major surgery.
But an individual orthosis, which will be measured to the millimeter specifically for the baby and made from modern materials, cannot be obtained through OMS, and its cost is unaffordable for the mother, who is raising two children alone. Her Andryusha cannot cope without us. Let's just help and give the child a chance for a healthy future!
