Islam is 19 years old. Behind this smile lies a daily struggle with a severe diagnosis: spastic tetraparesis, myoclonic deformity of the right foot, and symptomatic epilepsy. Islam was in a hurry to see this world—he was born extremely premature, weighing only 1,700 grams. For a long time, despite the efforts of doctors and rehabilitation, there was no positive progress. The young man could not sit or walk independently, but his mind was always clear—he understood everything, and could eat and drink on his own. The exact diagnosis—cerebral palsy—was not made immediately. Over 19 years, Islam has undergone numerous courses of treatment and two complex surgeries on his legs. Now, in order to consolidate the results and take his first independent steps, it is critically important for him to undergo rehabilitation twice a year.
Please, let’s help Islam take these long-awaited steps! Any support you can give is invaluable.
