Elisey was born a healthy child and developed normally until 4 months old—then came the diagnosis of epilepsy.
Over the course of a year, Elisey underwent numerous EEGs, MRIs, and consultations with doctors. Elisey continues to experience severe seizures—he suddenly and unexpectedly bends in half, up to 50 times a day. Around the apartment, Elisey moves only while wearing a taekwondo helmet, barefoot on a thick carpet, but even so, falls still result in facial injuries. Outside, his mother is forced to keep him in a closed stroller.
Despite the severity of the diagnosis, Elisey is developing physically: he started sitting at 8 months, and at 1.5 years old, he walks confidently, although his gait is unsteady. He does not speak or understand when addressed.
Elisey loves bedtime stories, is very fond of water, and can bathe under the shower endlessly. He likes being around other children and smiles at them.
Now Elisey needs genome sequencing. This analysis will help find the defect and select the right treatment. His parents dream that Elisey will stop getting injured and live without the threat of seizures.
