Vasilisa is 4 years old. She has a pronounced delay in psycho-speech development, autism spectrum disorder, and sensorimotor alalia.
Since birth, Vasilisa has been very restless: she slept little, cried often, and ate poorly. When Vasilisa was six months old, her mother began to notice that she was developing differently from her older brother at that age. The little girl did not respond to her name, did not understand spoken language, did not use pointing gestures, and did not repeat sounds.
It is difficult for Vasilisa to communicate her wishes: most often, she takes an adult by the hand and shows what she needs. She still rarely responds to her name, maintains eye contact only briefly, has difficulty coping with changes, and can become very upset if something goes wrong. She finds it hard to play and interact with other children, to stay in one place for a long time, and to follow safety rules. Therefore, an adult needs to be with her at all times.
Vasilisa needs help from specialists to learn to understand spoken language, communicate, play, and become more independent.
