Seryozha enjoys going for walks, putting things in their proper places, and playing lotto. He is kind, gentle, and open—he engages easily with others and is always happy to head off to his therapy sessions. Admittedly, he still finds it difficult to maintain his focus and gets distracted quite quickly; however, this is just one of the challenges that his family and doctors are working on together.
Seryozha has several diagnoses: developmental delay, alalia (a language impairment), hyperactivity, and autism spectrum disorder. For a long time, his parents hoped these difficulties would eventually pass, but as the years went by, it became clear that professional, systematic support was essential. Seryozha is growing up in a large, loving family where he has everyone’s support.
Sessions with a neuropsychologist and a special education specialist have already yielded long-awaited results: he has begun using a pointing gesture, established eye contact, and is working on imitation skills. The progress is slow, but it is real. Currently, he attends sessions four times a week—enough to maintain the gains he has made, but not enough to continue moving forward.
We are launching a new fundraising campaign to increase the frequency of his sessions. We believe that with regular, consistent support, Seryozha will be able to speak and eventually attend a mainstream school. Every contribution brings him closer to these major milestones.
