Emir Shahmarov is 2 years old. He has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Emir’s parents raised money for Zolgensma. The fundraising was stopped when an anonymous benefactor donated the missing amount for treatment and rehabilitation. Emir has got an injection of Zolgensma in Moscow in the beginning of June. The doctors of the National Medical Research Center for Children’s Health watched him for a week. Emir and his family returned home on June 18. The boy feels good. There are no strong side effects after getting Zolgensma. Emir is undergoing rehabilitation now at home. The fundraising is closed.

Let’s help little Emir get one injection with Zolgensma.

Emir Shakhmarov has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Spinal muscular atrophy is a genetic disorder in which the SMN1 gene is damaged. SMN1 manifests as flaccid paralysis and atrophy of all muscles. The most expensive drug in the world, Zolgensma, is needed to save him. This drug will stop the progress of the disease and Emir can lead a normal life. Without treatment Emir will weaken every day, eventually he will not be able to eat or breathe on his own. If we can raise the money, Emir will be the first child in Kazakhstan to receive treatment for the disease.
