Vlad was born much earlier than expected - prematurely, weighing only 738 grams and growing 34 centimeters. His first two months of life were spent in the hospital, in an incubator, under constant oxygen supply. This difficult beginning of life was marred by another diagnosis: hydrocephalus, discovered after two months of intensive care.
The diagnosis required immediate surgical intervention. The first surgery was successful, but further treatment proved to be long and complicated. Over the following months, three more attempts were made to place a shunt, but unfortunately each time the shunt was rejected by the body. This required additional surgeries to reinsert the shunt as well as dealing with complications.
On top of that, Vlad was found to have ten cysts in his brain, which were also removed in separate surgeries. After being examined by a neurosurgeon, Vlad was advised to urgently change his shunt from a conventional shunt to a programmable shunt. The shunt is expensive, but probably thanks to it Vlad will stop suffering from headache attacks, vomiting and will finally start to feel like a normal child who should enjoy his childhood.
We ask you very much to help the boy! The sooner we pay for the shunt, the sooner Vlad will be operated on.
