Foundation Perm region

Thanks to you, we very quickly closed the collection for Vlad and in due time purchased a shunt system, which was delivered to the Perm KDKB. Vlad's bypass surgery in the neurosurgery department of the KDKB was successful. The post-operative recovery period is underway. Vlad was on sick leave with his mom for two months. During this period the organism was weakened, the boy fell ill and was treated in the therapy. Now Vlad's health is good. He is home-schooled, but from the new school year he will go to school with his peers in the 3rd grade. In his free time he plays, draws, walks, in general, gains strength. Every month Vlad and his mother attend control appointments in neurology, doctors monitor his condition. During the examination by an otolaryngologist, a unilateral hearing loss was discovered; Vlad had never been diagnosed with such a condition before. The doctor recommended a hearing aid. Now Vlad and his mother have received a rehabilitation itinerary and are deciding on a sanatorium where the child will undergo medical rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the parents did not manage to take a photo of Vlad, so we attach a photo taken before the operation. Thank you very much for helping the boy!

Campaign information

Vlad has hydrocephalus. The boy needs a shunt replacement surgery!

Vlad was born much earlier than expected - prematurely, weighing only 738 grams and growing 34 centimeters. His first two months of life were spent in the hospital, in an incubator, under constant oxygen supply. This difficult beginning of life was marred by another diagnosis: hydrocephalus, discovered after two months of intensive care. The diagnosis required immediate surgical intervention. The first surgery was successful, but further treatment proved to be long and complicated. Over the following months, three more attempts were made to place a shunt, but unfortunately each time the shunt was rejected by the body. This required additional surgeries to reinsert the shunt as well as dealing with complications. On top of that, Vlad was found to have ten cysts in his brain, which were also removed in separate surgeries. After being examined by a neurosurgeon, Vlad was advised to urgently change his shunt from a conventional shunt to a programmable shunt. The shunt is expensive, but probably thanks to it Vlad will stop suffering from headache attacks, vomiting and will finally start to feel like a normal child who should enjoy his childhood. We ask you very much to help the boy! The sooner we pay for the shunt, the sooner Vlad will be operated on.
